Solaris VII

The battle went over well. There wasnt a very big crowd, and the prize wasnt anything to speak of, but it was my first battle here on Solaris, and I won. My opponent was piloting a HBK-4G Hunchback. The variant that carries an AC-20. That was bad. My mech almost got itself torn a new one. I lost 90% of my armor, and the large laser got scrapped. My manager is not happy about that. The Hunchback lost a leg and an arm, so yeah, it could have been worse for me.
So I may not participate in any more battles in awhile, not until I get my mech back into fighting shape. 3-5 days tops. Thats a bummer for sure.

Ok, we landed just the other day, and Im trying to get myself situated around here. The stable Im with recently provided me with some temporary quarters until I get on my own two feet. My first mech battle is a couple of days away. I found out I will be using an ancient ENF-4R Enforcer.
I wont have much time to practice, so I may not do so well. That worries me. The mech's design is rather solid though, an AC-10 and a large laser for main armament. The AC-10 supposedly has problems with its ammo feed. I hope I dont find out personally how bad that problem is.
As for the people around here, they are quite rude at times. Im not much used to such large cities, makes me wonder if they are like this in all large cities. Also Ive heard that there is a high crime rate here, so I have been watching my back more than usual. The only person I have had a large amount of contact with thus far is my contact with my stable. I dont much like him. He is the money loving type, and doesnt seem to care much for my well being. Hopefully I wont be working this stable long, and I can get into a better equipped one.

The dropship I have been traveling on for the past several months has finally made it to the Solaris system. As I write this, the dropship is in a high-G burn towards Solaris VII, where I have come to make my fortune, to live my dreams.
At the moment though, none of that matters yet. I just want some solid ground beneath my feet, a horizon in the distance, and some decent food. The muck they have been serving us on this ship isnt fit to feed my little sisters.
Speaking of my family, I will miss them. I may decide to write them every now and then, but I dont think I will get any of my letters returned if I do that. They weren't happy with my decision to go to Solaris.
On my way here, I spent most of my time trying to find a decent stable to join. I think I may have found one with an opening that I should find suitable for the moment. They will outfit me with a medium class mech, that will be mine for all intents and purposes, so long as I stay within the bounds of the stable contract.
I just wish I knew what kind of mech I was getting so I could start practicing with that particular mech. Its been a long time since Ive piloted a military grade mech, much less an agro mech. Oh well, I will just have to be patient.
